SATKHIRA: An activist of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, was killed in a clash with joint forces in Sadar upazila of the district early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Abu Hanif Chotton, 22, son of Shahar Ali of the area.

Sources said that a team of joint forces went in Padmashakhra area to hold accused. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Shibir activists hurled cocktails aiming the joint forces vehicle.

At one stage, law enforcers opened fire to disperse the Shibir men that triggered a clash between them, leaving Chotton injured.

Later, the law enforcers sent the injured to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Satkhira Special Branch Officer-in-Charge (DSB) Azam Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
