CHITTAGONG: At least 54 more member Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir were held form Chunati area under Lohagara upazila of the district for their alleged involvement in attacking ruling Awami League lawmaker Nadvi.

Sources said that joint forces in a nightlong drive held them from the area.

Lohagara Thana Officer-in-Charge Shahjahan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Amongst the detainees, some are Shathi and activists of Jamaat. They also were accused in many cases filed with Lohagara thana.

Earlier on Friday night, 22 people were held for alleged involvemnety in attack on Nadvi.

Earlier on Friday evening, Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked Awami League Member of Parliament Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi in a Mahfil in Shah Manjil area in the upazila at around 7:30pm.

In this matter police, on Saturday, filed case against three thousand member of Jamat-Shibir naming Jamaat leader Shamsul Islam and 125 persons.
