JHENIDAH: Some 40 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami were held by law enforcers from different places of the district on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in creating violence during the 10th national polls in the area.
Sources said police nabbed them by conducting a special drive in Jhenidah Sadar, Shailakupa and Kotchandpur upazilas of the district.
Additional Superintendent of Police of the district said that the detainees were produced before the court and then sent to jail at the afternoon.
