BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will return home only if her doctors approve, said her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
He was speaking to reporters after an event in London on Tuesday (February 11).
According to him, Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at a London clinic since January 8. Currently, she remains under medical supervision at the residence of her eldest son and BNP Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman. Her treatment is being overseen by Professor Patrick Kennedy and Jennifer Cross.
"Khaleda Zia is receiving treatment at home, and all necessary medical tests are being conducted as prescribed by her doctors. They have visited her at home, and her condition is stable at the moment. We request everyone to pray for her recovery,” Dr. Zahid added.
He also said that Khaleda Zia’s daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman, along with her granddaughters — Barristers Zaima Rahman, Zahia Rahman, and Jaifa Rahman — are taking care of her, which has significantly boosted her mental well-being. She remains under round-the-clock medical supervision.
Regarding her return to Bangladesh, Dr. Zahid said Khaleda Zia will travel back home only when doctors consider her fit.
