A Dhaka court today placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a four-day remand in connection with the killing of vegetable vendor Md Shahabul Islam Shaon during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohagh passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

According to the case statement, Shahabul, who used to sell vegetables on a rickshaw-van, joined an anti-discrimination student movement rally on August 4, 2024. He was shot dead beside the RMST Building in the Baipail Intersection area of Ashulia.

Following the incident, Shahabul’s brother, Touhidul Miah, filed a case with Ashulia Police Station.
