A new political party, ‘National Citizen Party (NCP),’ has been launched by a group of young leaders who were at the forefront of movements against Sheikh Hasina’s government, including the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizen Committee.

The party was officially announced on Friday (February 28) at an event in Manik Mia Avenue, Dhaka. 

Mim Akter, sister of martyr Ismail Hossain Rabbi, declared the party’s formation.

She also announced Nahid Islam’s name as the party’s convenor, while Akhtar Hossain has been named its member secretary.
