MOULVIBAZAR: Sreemangal BNP ex-chair Ataur Rahman has been expelled on charge of violating the party discipline.

A press release signed by BNP joint-secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday said that the local leader was expelled from the party for his involvement in activities which go against the party interest.

Central leader and in-charge of Sylhet Division’s upazila election monitoring cell of BNP Shahidul Islam Tanjin confirmed the matter to banglanews over cell phone.

Party sources said that for the upcoming third phase of upazilla elections Ataur stood against BNP nominee.

The action was taken against him as per the constitution of the party, the sources added.
