BRAHMANBARIA: The body of a leader of ruling Awami League was found in a ditch in Char Islampur Union under Bijoynagar Upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Ali Sardar, 65, Awami League president of ward no. 1 of Char Islampur Union of the upazila.

Locals claimed that the victim fell into a ditch after being chased by police around 4:00am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Bijoynagar Thana Officer-in-Charge Rasul Ahmed Nizami confirmed the death news to banglanews but denied allegation of locals.
