Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed disappointment over talks with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, saying the discussions failed to yield concrete assurances regarding the upcoming national election.
Speaking to reporters outside the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday afternoon, Fakhrul said the meeting did not produce the clarity the party was seeking—particularly on the issue of holding elections by December.
He said: “The discussions were not satisfactory...we did not receive any firm commitment on the election timeline.”
The BNP delegation, led by Fakhrul, arrived at the venue shortly after 12:00pm.
Other members of the delegation included Standing Committee members Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salauddin Ahmed, and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.
