A Dhaka court today placed six individuals, including former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan and former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, on remand in separate cases linked to murders and attempted murders during the July-August mass uprising.

Others remanded include former DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, ex-BCL leader Tanvir Hasan Soikat, AL leader Dilip Kumar Agarwala, and former Jatrabari OC Abul Hasan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman passed the remand orders after police presented the accused and sought their custodial interrogation.

Shahjahan received a one-day remand, while Atiqul and Soikat were given two days each in connection with a madrasa student’s murder. Palak and Dilip were placed on two-day remands in separate cases. Abul Hasan was remanded for three days.

The court also showed ten individuals, including Inu, Menon, Qamrul, and Tureen Afroz, arrested in related cases tied to the same unrest.
