DHAKA: The government-backed candidates have been celebrating a festival of fake ballot casting in the 4th phase of the ongoing upazila election, alleged BNP joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The BNP leader came up with the allegation at a press briefing on the polls at the party’s Naya Paltan central office of the city at 11:00am Sunday.
Rizvi claimed that police and members of other law enforcing agencies have been playing silent role during voting.
At several upazilas, BNP-backed candidates came under attacks, poling agents are being ousted from the vote centers, he alleged adding law enforcing agencies paid no heed to the allegations rather the party men were threatened to be detained.
Rizvi also cited a summery of casting fake vote, occupying center and snatching ballot boxes by the supporters of Awami League-backed runners at different upazilas.
Meanwhile, killing, injuring in polls-violence and vote boycotting were reported from different places of the country, he added.
A Union Parishad chairman was killed in Munsiganj. BNP backed candidate called a half-day hartal in Agaljhara of Barisal for Monday. Four candidates boycotted polls in Monpura of Bhola district.
Voting in 91 upazilas of 43 districts is underway in the fourth phase of fourth upazila polls of the country under tight security.
Polls started from 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm at a stretch.
