DHAKA: Some 56.12 percent voters cast ballots in the fourth phase elections, held on Sunday, in 91 upazilas of 43 districts of the country.
Sources of the Election Commission (EC) confirmed the matter to banglanews on Monday night.
The highest 81.48 percent voter turnout was recorded at Nalchity upazila in Jhalokati while the lowest 39.89 percent at Begumganj in Noakhali.
Out of 1,37,74,028 voters in the 91 upazilas, a total of 77,29,742 voters exercised their franchise on Sunday in 5,884 polling stations.
Polls-violence forced EC to suspend voting in 33 polling stations.
Of the cast votes, 74,26,914 were found valid in the fourth phase of the countrywide 4th upazila election and 3,02,828 were invalid.
The voter turnouts were 62.44 percent in the first phase election in 97 upazilas, 63.31 percent in the second phase election in 116 upazilas and 63.52 percent in the third phase election in 81 upazilas.
