LONDON: BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman reiterated that late President Ziaur Rahman, also his father, was the first president of independent Bangladesh.       

He came up with the assertion while addressing a public meeting at Westminster Hall of central London in Britain on Tuesday evening.  

Tarique said Zia was the first President of the country and this is the reality. But, Awami League wants to create illusion by opposing it without any logical ground and evidence.
