CHAPAINAWABGANJ: District Jamaat-e-Islami called half-day hartal for Wednesday in the district protesting the arrest of Sadar upazila chairman Professor Mokhlesur Rahman, also municipality Ameer of the party.

Confirming the matter, district Jamaat Ameer Nazrul Islam told banglanews that ongoing HSC examination will be out of the purview of the hartal.

Jamaat leaders and activists brought out procession supporting the hartal, which will be observed in the district from 6:00am to 2:00pm.

Police detained Professor Mokhlesur Rahman on Tuesday morning while going to take oath as Sadar upazila chairman.
