DHAKA: The ruling Awami League submitted its election expenditure statement of Tk 2.54 crore to the Election Commission on Thursday fourth months after the 10th parliamentary election, held on January 5.
A three-member party delegation submitted the expenditure, known as party return, of 2 crore 53 lakh 92,712 Taka to EC secretary Sirajul Islam at the EC Secretariat in the city.
The delegation included AL office secretary, also Prime Minster special assistant, Abdus Sobhan Golap, treasurer, also AL’s finance committee convener, Abdul Haque and AL’s election management committee member Advocate ABM Kawser.
After submission the return, Golap told the journalists there, “The total money had been spent for the party’s election campaigns, meetings, rallies, processions, advertisements, and other necessary activities.”
Kawser said, “The 35-page return, signed by party general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, has been submitted to the EC, which would be published on its website.”
The ruling party submitted the return after the expiry of the timeframe fixed by the commission.
