DHAKA: The government is working in international forums to send workers in different countries without any cost of migration.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain made the assertion at Secretariat’s conference room on Monday.
The minister briefed media about his recent tours overseas.
He said Bangladesh has demanded migration free of cost and several international forums have paid heed to Bangladesh’s proposal regarding this.
Representatives from 140 countries, including Bangladesh and 30 international organizations, including International Labor Organization (ILO) took part at the 2-day Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) held from May 14 at Stockholm in Sweden.
He further said GFMD is a large forum and Bangladesh’s proposal of free migration was highly accepted at the forum.
With the reference of UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon’s speech on reducing migration cost, the minister said international communities are appreciating efforts of Bangladesh.
He said it is now no longer a demand from Bangladesh, other nations also demanding this.
