Voting in Barisal-5 by-polls Sunday

BARISAL: Voting for the by-election to Barisal-5 constituency will be held on Sunday.

The polling will begin at 8:00am and continue till 4:00pm without any break.

Two candidates will contest the by-election to the parliamentary constituency.

Jebunnessa Afroj, widow of late MP Shawkat Hossain Hiron, will vie in the polls with “Boat” symbol while Saiful Islam Liton backed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) to fight with “Television” symbol. 

A total of 342,159 voters will cast their votes at 159 centers.

On June 5, the election commission has rescheduled the Barisal 5 by-election to June 15 instead of June 12. 

Army would not be deployed in Barisal-5 by-polls rather Police, BGB, RAB, APBN and Ansar Battalion would perform their duty as the Mobile and Striking Force like the previous by-polls to keep law-and-order situation under control.
