CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court Sunday deferred the hearing on charge framing against convicted war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in a vehicle torching case.
Acting District and Session Judge of Chittagong La Mong fixed August 3 in response to time plead of defense.
District Court Public Prosecutor Abul Hashem confirmed the matter banglanews.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (south) Monjur Morshed told banglanews, “Some 350 police men were deployed in the court premises to avoid any untoward situations.”
Earlier on Thursday night, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was taken to Chittagong jail from Kashimpur jail in Gazipur.
Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s lawyer Advocate Enamul Haque told banglanews, “The hearing was scheduled to be held on June 15 in a vehicle torching case in 2010.”
On October 1, 2013, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was sentenced to death for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
