DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir categorically said his party is now agreed to sit for dialogue though the incumbent government is illegal.
He made the remark while addressing a round-table discussion on countrywide kidnap, extrajudicial murder and the country on crisis, organized by National People’s Party at National Press Club on Wednesday noon.
Regarding some ministers comments on “BNP should admit the legality to the ruling party” Fakhrul said they recognize them illegal by this statement.
But for the sake of nation and democracy they are ready to talk with the government, he added.
“We want immediate election through dialogue, discussion and understanding. To save the democracy, election should be held under the caretaker government as the country has no democracy now,” he commented.
Hinting at the government, Fakhrul said. “Don’t waste time and come to the discussion table with fresh mind. Stop kidnapping and murder. Some of you have ill mentality and they need treatment”.
He said the main reason of the kidnapping and murder is to eliminate BNP and the 19-party alliance and also the nationalist power.
The incumbent government has cancelled the caretaker system to stay in power, he added.
BNP didn’t come on street intentionally. The government had made them to do so. The BNP are protesting to establish the the rights of vote and democracy in the country.
While talking about the Padma bridge tender he said the incumbent government inked treaty with China to earn illegal money.
Chairman of the National People’s Party Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu presided over the program while Islamic Party Chairman Advocate Abdul Mobin, Labour Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran, its General Secretary Dr Fariduzzaman Farhad, among others, were present.
