DHAKA: Opposition Jatiya Party (JP) has submitted its election expenditure statement to the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday.
The party also paid Tk 10,000 as fine to save their registration as it failed to submit the statement in time.
Joint office secretary of Jatiya Party Abul Hasan Ahmed Jewel submitted the expenditure at the EC office at noon.
Sources from EC management section said JP submitted the expenditure statement of Tk 2 crore.
According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), all the parties are bound to submit their election expenditure statement within 90 days after the result of general elections.
But EC issued a letter to the party asking to submit the expenditure within a month.
Later, EC again sent a letter granting 15 more days to JP on condition of paying Tk 10,000 as fine.
