DHAKA: Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Bangabandhu, and Saima Wazed Hossain, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, met visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday morning.
Sources said that they went to Swaraj’s suite at the Hotel Sonargaon around 10:00am with various gifts.
They stayed there for sometimes and exchanged greetings with the visiting Indian Minister.
Swaraj, on a three-day visit to Dhaka, is scheduled to leave for Delhi at noon.
She was given charge of the foreign ministry after Narendra Modi’s government assumed office in Delhi last month.
Earlier, a special flight carrying her landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 10:30pm Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali welcomed her while other officials from Foreign Ministry were present.
Sushma, just after landing, greeted the people of Bangladesh and expressed her hope about further strengthening of Indo-Bangla friendship.
This is the first visit by any top Indian leaders after Modi’s ascension to power.
She met with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia too while Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad is yet to meet.
