GAIBANDHA: Police took 24 operatives of the banned Islamist outfit ‘Allahr Dal’ on a three-day remand Monday.
Judicial magistrate Jalal Uddin passed the order on Sunday after Sadar thana police produced them before a court with a 10-day remand prayer.
OC of the Sadar thana Akbar Hossain later told the banglanews24.com.bd that they were taken on remand under anti-terrorism act.
Earlier on Saturday, police in a drive arrested them from a house at Rather bazar in Sadar upazila, as sweeping action against suspected militants is on steam across the country.
Later Sadar thana SI Golam Rabbani filed a case in this connection.
‘Allahr Dal’ chief Matin Mehedi, also a leader of the orphaned Islamist outfit JMB, had recently started his activities in the backwater Gaibandha district, home of many monga-afflicted poor people.
Earlier, four ‘Allahr Dal’ cadres were arrested from Sadallapur while five from Pradhan Para of Gabindaganj municipal area.
