DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called upon leaders and activists to put in their combined effort to bolster the party’s strength staying above all kinds of controversies.
Khaleda made the call on Thursday night when party’s student union secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annee MP, after his release from detention, paid a courtesy call on the BNP chief at her Gulshan office. On the occasion of his release on bail in four cases, he offered the party chief a bouquet of flowers.
The opposition leader also said that everyone has to be active in continuing agitation against what she said the ruling government’s torture and injustice.
“Everyone also will have to be careful that no outsiders could take advantage and ruin the unity in the name of party’s internal misunderstanding,” said the former premier.
BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, joint secretary-general Aman Ullah Aman and opposition chief whip Joynul Abdin Faruk were among others present.
Police filed the cases separately with Shahbag police station on charge of obstructing police duties during June 27 hartal enforced by the BNP-led opposition as part their anti-government agitation.
