2 AL leaders slaughtered in 2 dists

DHAKA: Two local leaders of the ruling Awami League were slaughtered in Noakhali and Bogra districts on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Babul, 55, upazila AL member and also Member of Charmatua Union Ward No-2 under Sadar upazila in Noakhali and Shamsul Haque, 50, AL vice-president of Elangi union of Dhunat upazila of Bogra district.

In Noakhali, a group of miscreants slaughtered Babul, a member of local Awami League (AL) at Sadar upazila of the district early Monday.

Charmatua Union Parishad chairman Kamal Uddin Bablu, also Union AL general secretary, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said locals found the slaughtered body of Babul lying beside road at the union this morning and informed the chairman.

Sudharam Thana Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain told banglanews that, on information, a police team was sent to the spot.

On the other hand, in Bogra, miscreants slaughtered Mojahar Ali Mandal, an Awami League (AL) vice-president of Elangi union at Didarpara village of Dhunat upazila, early Monday.

Elangi Union Parishad chairman MA Tareq Helal, also union unit AL president, told banglanews that Shamsul was vice-president of AL Elangi union unit.

Dhunat Thana Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman said police took the body to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

The body of Shamsul was found several injury marks, the OC added.

Police suspected that he might have been killed following an arbitration meeting on Sunday over longstanding land dispute between one Azizur Rahman and his son-in-law Masud Rana of Didarpara.
