DHAKA: The extended hartal of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led (BNP) 20-party alliance has got underway across the country since Wednesday Morning.
Sabotages were reported to some extent in the city and elsewhere of the city on Tuesday night. A truck was torched in Siranjganj.
The alliance extended the fresh 72-hour hartal to 6:00am Friday, which began at 6:00am on Sunday and set to end at 6:00am on Wednesday, coupled with a nationwide road-rail-waterway blockade for indefinite period.
Earlier on Tuesday, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, through issuing press release, announced that the extension of the ongoing shutdown protesting “false” cases against the party leaders, including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The shutdown was also extended protesting the mass killing by joint forces, indiscriminate murder, kidnaps, attacks and mass arrest of 20-party alliance leaders.
