DHAKA: At least 202 vehicles were torched during the hartal and blockade programs the BNP-led 20-party alliance has been encoring since January 5.
Moreover, miscreants attacked on 48 law enforcers while they were serving their duties.
Police also nabbed 230 leaders and activists of the alliance for creating sabotage in several areas of the city.
Among the detainees, 143 are BNP leaders and activists and 87 are Jamaat-Shibir men.
At least 325 cases have been filed in these connections.
Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department confirmed the matter to banglanews.
However, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia announced nationwide blockade for indefinite period since January 5 protesting government’s bar to mark the ‘democracy killing day’ and to protest Khaleda’s ‘confinement’ in her Gulshan political office.
The 20-party alliance are also enforcing hartal across the country along with the blockade program.
After the announcement of the blockade, the miscreants started sabotages including vehicle torching by hurling petrol bombs in several areas across the country.
Some 13 burn injured people also died in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) burn unit and so far 50 injured are in under treatment.
