DHAKA: The High Court fixed Thursday for the hearing on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s plea seeking transfer of two graft cases in the Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trusts.
The HC bench of Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice M Khasruzzaman passed the order on Monday.
Barrister Badrudduza Badal along with Barrister Ragib Rouf Chowdhury and Barrister Ehsanur Rahman stood for the petition.
On January 28, Khaleda’s lawyers filed an application seeking the transfer of the Zia Trusts Cases to another court, showing no-confidence in the trial judge of special court-3.
On February 25, judge of Dhaka Special Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jamadar issued arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and two others.
On the day, the court recorded the deposition of Anti Corruption Commission deputy director Harun-or-Rashid, the plaintiff and first witness of the case.
It also fixed March 4 for recording deposition second witness in the case.
Earlier, in response to the BNP chief’s appeal, the High Court transferred the trial court judge Basudev Roy who framed charges against Khaleda and others in the two graft cases.
