96 held in three districts

DHAKA: At least 96 persons including activists and supporters of BNP-Jamaat were detained in nightlong drives conducted in Jessore, Satkhira and Meherpur districts on Saturday.

Law enforcers held 46 persons from different places of Jessore early Saturday.

Jessore district police control room sources said that all the detainees are accused of different cases and they will be sent to court.

However, law enforcers nabbed 32 including 2 BNP and 3 Jamaat activists in Satkhira in drives conducted from Friday midnight to Saturday noon.

Satkhira district police Special Branch official Sheikh Emdad Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The detainees are accused of different cases including creating violence, he added.

Moreover, law enforcers held a Jamaat and 17 BNP activists in suspicion of creating violence in Meherpur.
