DHAKA: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad has removed his special adviser Bobby Hajjaj from his post a day after the latter’s announcement to contest in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) elections.

Ershad’s press and political secretary Sunil Subharoy Chowdhury said as special adviser is not a party post, its chairman removed him as per his jurisdiction.

Bobby Hajjaj was only special adviser to jatiya Party chairman, he added.

The party chairman directed that since Bobby Hajjaj has been removed from the post, he will have no link to the party from now on, Sunil Subharoy Chowdhury added.

Party sources said Jatiya Party declared Bahauddin Ahmed Babul as a candidate for the mayoral post of DNCC.

Defying the Earshad decision, Bobby Hajjaj, in a media briefing on Saturday, declared his candidature in the upcoming mayoral elections.
