DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) leaders urged Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to join the upcoming city corporation elections with politicians who are not involved in ‘terrorism’.
Some ministers and AL leaders came up with this assertion while speaking at an extended party meeting in Bangabandhu Avenue of the city on Tuesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan AL organized the meeting to make discussions on Independence Day programs.
Disaster management and relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, food minister Qamrul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan AL unit vice-president Mukul Chowdhury, among others, were present in the meeting chaired by its another vice-president Foyez Uddin Miah.
Maya said, “We are ready to take the challenge if BNP participate in the elections with fair party people.”
While answering a question about AL’s support to the poll candidates, he said the AL president Sheikh Hasina will decide about the party support to the candidates in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections.
