JESSORE: Law enforcers held at least 64 persons in nightlong drives conducted in Jessore and Chittagong districts on Wednesday.
Police arrested 55 persons conducting drives across Jessore.
District police control room sources said that the drives, starting from Tuesday midnight, ended on Wednesday morning.
The arrestees, who are accused in several cases, will be produced before the court, the sources added.
Moreover, police detained nine leaders-activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami from different upazilas of the district for their alleged link in sabotages.
During the overnight drive, the law enforcers rounded up three each from BNP, Jamaat and its student wing Chhatra Shibir from Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara upazilas, said Mohammd Naimul Hasan, additional superintendent of police.
Police has been conducting drives across the district to nab suspected anarchists in a bid to avert subversive activities during indefinite blockade called by BNP-Jamaat alliance.
