CHITTAGONG: Law enforcers detained five BNP and its key ally Jamaat-Shibir men in overnight drives conducted in different areas in Chittagong district on Thursday.

The detainees include 2 BNP activists and 2 from Shibir and one from Jamaat.

District additional police super (Special Branch) Mohammad Naimul Hasan told banglanews that they conducted drives in Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara upazilas of the district and nabbed five BNP-Jamaat men.

The drives will continue to avert any untoward situation during the ongoing blockade, sponsored by BNP-led 20-party alliance across the country, he added.
