DHAKA: Law enforcers detained at least 164 people, including seven BNP-Jamaat men, in overnight anti-violence drives conducted in Narail, Jessore, Satkhira and Gaibandha districts on Monday.
Banglanews Jessore correspondent reported that 56 persons were arrested in drives, conducted from Sunday midnight to Monday 11:30am, in eight upazilas of the district.
Jessore district police control room source said that the arrestees, who were accused in different cases, will be produced before court.
Moreover, 27 persons, including 4 BNP-Jamaat men were arrested in Satkhira district.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Satkhira district police Special Branch (SB) officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Emdad Hossain said that the arrestees were accused in cases filed for creating violence.
The arrestees include two from BNP and two from Jamaat, he added.
In Narail, police detained 57 people from different upazilas of the district from Sunday midnight to Monday morning.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Narail police control room sources said the law enforcers’ detained 18 men from Sadar, 19 from Lohagora, 10 from Kalia and 10 from Noragati police stations.
The detainees, later, were shown arrested in different cases, the sources.
At least 24 people including three Jamaat men were arrested in different cases in Gaibandha.
Confirming the matter Gaibandha additional police super (ASP) Mosharraf Hossain told banglanews that the arrestees were accused in creating violence while one of them was charge-sheeted.
