DHAKA: Police in separate drives arrested 56 people including 13 from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Jessore and Chittagong districts early Monday.

Banglanews Jessore Correspondent said at least 47 men including three BNP men and a Jamaat activist were arrested in overnight drives in eight upazilas of the district.

District Police Control Room sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the arrestees are accused in several cases and they will be produced before the court at noon.

Moreover, law enforcers detained three BNP, four Jamaat and two Shibir men from Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara thanas of Chittagong for their alleged involvement in sabotage in the area.

District Additional Superintendent of Police (SP, Special Branch) Muhammad Naimul Hasan confirmed the matter.
