RANGPUR: Police arrested two activists of Chhatra Shibir with 30 petrol bombs and bomb making substances from Mirbagh area under Kawnia Upazila of the district early Friday.

The arrestees are Nurul Haque, 36, of Chandipur area and Azizul, 27, of Dharmeshwar area under Kownia upazila.

Kawnia Thana officer-in-charge Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said tipped off, a team of police raided a coaching center- Golden Tutorial Home- in the area and arrested two shibir men with 30 petrol bomb and bomb making substances.

Shibir men might conduct sabotage using the bombs after execution of convicted war criminal Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, the OC added.

The detainees are being interrogated at Kawnia Thana custody, said sources.
