DHAKA: At least 104 people, including 26 activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested in Jessore and Satkhira districts on Wednesday.

In Jessore, law enforcers arrested 62 persons, including 20 BNP Jamaat men, in overnight drives conducted in different areas in the district.

Jessore district police control room sources said that the arrestees are accused in different cases including vandalism.

Among the arrestees, 17 from BNP and three from Jamaat, the sources added.

Moreover, police arrested 42 persons, including six BNP-Jamaat men in Satkhira.

The drives were conducted between Tuesday night and 11:30am on Wednesday across the district.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Satkhira district police special branch (SB) inspector Emdad Hossain said that the arrestees are accused in different cases related to creating violence in several thanas of the district.
