DHAKA: At least 119 people including four activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested from Jessore, Narail and Jhenaidah districts.

Police arrested 53 including three BNP-Jamaat men conducting drives from Sunday midnight to Monday morning from different parts of Jessore.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Jessore district police control room sources said that the arrestees are accused in different cases including vandalism.

At least 43 people, including Shahabad Union unit Chhatradal president Mohammad Mahidul Islam, were arrested in Narail on the day.

District police control room sources said, among the arrestees 10 were from Narail Sadar, 16 from Lohagara, seven from Kalia and 10 from Naragati thanas of the district.

Narail police super confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Moreover, police arrested 23 people conducting drives in six upazilas of Jhenaidah in overnight drives.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Jhenaidah police super Altaf Hossain said the arrestees are accused in different charges including creating violence.
