DHAKA: The counting of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls is underway and the unofficial results have started coming to banglanews newsroom Tuesday.
According to the unofficial results from 68 poll centers out of 1,093, ruling Awami League (AL)-supported candidate Anisul Haque with the symbol of ‘Table Clock’ bags 38,588 and BNP-endorsed Tabith Awal with the symbol of ‘Bus’ gets 28,753.
DNCC chief returning officer Shah Alam from his make-shift poll office at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre announced the result.
Of total 2,345,374 voters in 48 wards of DNCC, 1,224,701 are male and 1,120,673 female voters.
A total of 281 general councilors, 89 reserved councilors and 16 mayoral candidates are vying in the DNCC elections.
Earlier in the day, voting of DSCC, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls started at 8:00am and ended at 4:00pm amid reported stray incidents of violence, alleging and counter alleging and quitting elections by BNP and some other parties.
