DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) said that nearly 44 percent votes were cast in the Tuesday’s city corporations polls in Dhaka and Chittagong.
According to the EC data, the lowest turnout was counted in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) while the highest was in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
A total of 2,648,728 voters, out of 6,029,278, cast their votes in three city corporations elections, totaling 43.93 percent of vote cast.
Beside, 2,527,725 votes were counted as legal, while 121,003 votes were rejected as illegal, resulting 4.57 percent of the total cast.
DNCC
A total of 878,058 voters, out of 2,344,900, cast their votes in DNCC election. It results 37.30 percent casts of total vote. Among them, some 841,000 votes were counted as legal.
DSCC
A total of 954,084 voters, out of 1,870,778, cast their votes in DSCC election. It results 48.40 percent casts of total votes. Among them, 865,354 votes were counted as legal.
Besides, elections in three centers had been suspended in the DSCC area.
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC)
A total of 868,663 voters, out of 1,813,600, cast their votes in CCC, resulting 47.90 percent of the total vote. Among them, 821,371 votes were counted as legal.
However, the elections of three city corporations were held on April 28.
