I am alive: Salahuddin

DHAKA: BNP’s ‘missing’ joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, from a mental hospital of India’s Meghalaya state, said that he is alive.

The BNP leader’s wife Hasina Ahmed confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday noon.

She said that Salahuddin talked to her over phone and stated, ‘I am alive and fit’.

According to her, the phone call was made from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Indian state of Meghalaya.

Hasina said that physicians of NIMHANS made a phone call to her and said her husband wants to talk.

‘Later, I talked to him. He (Salahuddin) said he is alive and fit. He also asked me to tell everybody about the matter,’ she described.

The BNP leader’s wife said that she is trying to go there as soon as possible. She also sought cooperation from the government and authorities concerned regarding her visit there.

Hasina also expressed her gratitude to the nation and media.

Earlier in the day, she confirmed the news of her husband’s phone call.

She made the confirmation while talking to the media after coming out of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence.
