DHAKA: A Dhaka court rejected bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three cases filed with city’s Paltan Thana for torching, vandalizing and sabotage.
Rejecting remand plea, the court also ordered police to interrogate the senior BNP leader at the jail gate.
Judge Askok Kuman Dutt of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the orders on completion of hearing after police produced Fakhrul before the court Thursday.
Earlier, Fakhrul was taken to the court from Kashimpur jail around 8:00am while the hearing began after 10:00am.
Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mezbah filed the bail petition in three cases at the court while police sought a total of 30 days in remand – 10 days in each case.
On January 6, police arrested Fakhrul in front of National Press Club. So far, the leader has made accused in 76 cases related to sabotages carried out during BNP-Jamaat movement.
