DHAKA: Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in overnight drives arrested two people on suspicion of Islamic State (IS) militant early Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Aminul Islam Beg, 50, and Sakib Bin Kamal, 33.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Jahangir Alam Sarkar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

They also arranged a press briefing at DMP’s Media Centre at noon disclosing the matter.

Police said, acting on a tip-off, they conducted separate drives and arrested them from Sector-14 under Uttara Thana and Lalmatia area of the city.

The law enforcers also seized a laptop, charger, diary, three mobile phone sets and some jihadi books from their possession.
