Abbas denied anticipatory bail

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Monday declined the anticipatory bail of BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas in two sabotage cases.

An HC bench comprising Justice Ruhul Quddus passed the order after holding a hearing.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Mirza Abbas in the court while attorney general Mahbubey Alam and deputy attorney general Bashirullah stood for the state.

On April 15, an HC bench gave split verdict in those two sabotage cases.

Later, Chief Justice SK Sinha sent the case to the bench of Justice Ruhul Quddus to settle the matter.
