CHITTAGONG: Police, in overnight drives, detained 125 people including four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from different areas of the district.

The law enforcers also recovered 4 kilograms of hemp, 45 pieces of yaba and 94 litres of wine during the drives.

Police sources said that of the detainees, 29 persons were accused in regular cases while 92 others had arrest-warrants.

Lawpersons also held a Jamaat activist and three Shibir men from Lohagara Upazila during a special drive, the sources added.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) in Chittagong Mohammad Naimul Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
