DHAKA: With the hope of assuming power in three years, ‘Aam-Janata Khilafat Party’ was introduced as a political party on Tuesday.

The party’s founding chairman Syedana Haidar Ali Chowdhury announced the formation of the party at a press conference at National Press Club in city on Tuesday.

He commented, ‘I will bring ‘Aam-Janata Khilafat Party’ to state power by next three years by my spiritual power. I brought Awami League (AL) to power in 2008’.

‘I also played a vital role in bringing AL in power again in 2014,’ he claimed.

Replying to questions, Haidar Ali said, ‘I have left my luxurious life and adopted the life of a dervish, who can do and undo many things’.

Mentioning the remarkable roles of dervishes in Bangladesh political scenario, he further said that the dervishes are influential in the socio-political and cultural life of the people in India subcontinent.

According to Haidar Ali, the political party will work to protect democracy as well as basic rights of people.

It will be a progressive and secular party, he added.
