DHAKA: A Shillong court Friday rejected bail to BNP joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed in a case filed for intrusion in India.
The court showed Interpol Red Alert Notice as a ground for not granting bail.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Press Wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Salahuddin’s wife Hasina Ahmed filed the bail petition on May 22 to transfer him to another country from Shilong for improved treatment.
On May 23, the court took cognizance the petition and fixed May 29 for the hearing.
However, BNP leader Salahuddin went missing in the night of March 10 and his whereabouts were known on May 12. He was under treatment at a hospital in Shillong of Indian state of Meghalaya.
Shillong police took him to custody after he was released from Neigrihms hospital.
