CHITTAGONG: Police, in overnight drives, detained 283 persons including 11 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from different areas of the district.

The law enforcers also recovered 2 LGs, five rounds of bullets and 421 litres wine during the drives.

District’s additional superintendent of police (ASP) (special branch) Muhammad Naimul Hasan told banglanews that of the detainees, 56 persons were accused in regular cases while 216 others had arrest-warrants.

ASP (south) Habibur Rahman said that lawpersons arrested a Jamaat activist and 10 Shibir men from Lohagara anf Chandanaish Upazilas in separate drives.

They all were accused in different cases related to sabotage, added Habibur.
