DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will call on Indian Prime Minister Narandra Modi who arrives in Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day visit.
Indian Foreign Secretary Dr S Jaishankar revealed the matter in a press briefing on Modi’s visit to Bangladesh in New Delhi on Friday.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia, who refused to pay a courtesy call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in Dhaka in March 2013, is likely to call on Modi Sunday.
“Modi will receive a number of important Bangladeshi leaders including Khaleda Zia on June 7 followed by meetings with President Abdul Hamid, leader of opposition Begum Rushan Ershad,” he said.
He will then meet presidents of leading chambers and leaders of left parties, Jaishankar added.
However, the meeting with Khaleda Zia is a part of his a number of unofficial meetings, said a diplomatic source.
