MAGURA: Police recovered a total of 35 live bombs from a madrasha, run by Jammat-e-Islami, in Dari Magura area under Sadar Uazila of the district early Tuesday.

Police sources said acting on a tip-off, police raided Al-Aaim Trust Dakhil Madarasha and Orphanage of the area and recovred the haul of handmade bombs inside a tin-shed room there around 1:00am.

No detention was made in this connection.

District police’s Detective Branch (DB) Officer-In-Charge Imaul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police suspected Jamaat men hid those bombs to carry out sabotage activities centering the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on Jammat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid’s appeal against the death penalty on charges of crimes against humanity.

A case was filed under the explosive act with Sadar Thana.

SC’s Appellate Division, however, upheld the death sentence to the Jammat leader for his crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971 around 9:00am on Tuesday.
