DHAKA: The Supreme Court Appellate Division on Wednesday fixed June 22 (Sunday) as the next date of hearing on appeal of the death row convict BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

The appeal hearing started at the four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha earlier on Tuesday (June 16). The court had adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.

The other members of the SC bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique.

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for SQ Chowdhury in the court while attorney general Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.

On October 1 of 2013, International Crime Tribunal (ICT)-1 handed down death sentence to the former BNP parliamentarian for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

S Q Chowdhury appealed to the Supreme Court on October 29 seeking acquittal of all charges.
